<p>Flamenca est un roman anonyme de 8095 vers octosyllabiques composé en ancien occitan vers le milieu du XIIIe siècle. <br />L'oeuvre raconte les amours de Guilhem de Nevers, jeune chevalier français doté de toutes les vertus physiques et morales, et de la belle Flamenca.<br />Le récit commence par la demande en mariage de Flamenca par Archambaut de Bourbon. Les noces sont célébrées avec faste à Nemours pendant huit jours puis suivent les festivités de l’arrivée de Flamenca à Bourbon. La description extraordinairement détaillée des fêtes de Bourbon, des danses, des musiques, des œuvres littéraires qui sont jouées, « le plus incroyable déploiement de culture vivante dont on puisse rêver » selon Yves Rouquette, ont fait de Flamenca un portrait exceptionnel de la société courtoise et ont pu lui donner l’image d’un roman historique.</p>
